Yesterday I visited a friend in the hospital.
She is a faithful woman…
…and I am told she is dying.
But I don’t like hospitals.
Not because of sickness and death.
Not because it is always terribly difficult to find a parking spot…
…or pay for it once found.
NOT AT ALL
I just find that whenever I need to go to the hospital it is for some very important event.
And that event, while it obviously involves the body…
…is also very spiritual.
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD THING DOESN’T IT?
It is.
In fact, if that were the only thing that I did yesterday…
…if all I did was sit with a sister in Christ and smile about times both past and present…
…then that would be very good.
“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.” Matthew 25:35-56
But I resist what is good.
I squirm at the prospect of doing that one thing that could change my day and the day of others.
Are you like that?
Do you already have a sense about the one small, possibly imperceptible thing you can do that will make all of the difference?
Are you already thinking about how to avoid it?
Don’t let that happen.
Today, do that ONE THNG.
Do it soon.
Do it well.
And perhaps through all of our many hands…
…the world will notice a difference.
in Christ, patrick
