Its Okay Guys

I was wrestling with my three year old, Caleb, and I was doing my best to be scary. Truth be told, I was attempting to be a force to be reckoned with, something that crawled out of one of our adventure books, the kind of beast that turns the ordinary men and women who have conquered it into heroes. And well, I think I succeeded.

Initially, Caleb was scared as his overriding battle tactic was something you might call, ‘run for cover.’ But when help came in the form of his big brother and sister, Caleb did something quite unusual for a three year old, but sadly something quite normal for the rest of us.

Looking at Jonah and Sophia, he held out a hand to keep them back and declared, “It’s okay guys, I got this!” Only to continue running and hiding.

EVERYDAY GOD SENDS YOU HELP.

Every day, He reaches out to you through word and action, through the greatness of His creation, and certainly through your brothers and sisters, the Body of Christ around you. He says, “don’t be afraid. I am with you.” And what do we tend to do?

If you’re like me, then you make the terrible mistake of saying to the darkness, “I got this!” when in all honesty you do not.

So friends, today when you see His help, say thank you. Today, when the beasts of this world are sinking their teeth in, call out for Him.

You are not alone. Stop acting like it.
