Lunch time.
The time of day when we fill our mouths with food and drink.
The time of day when we rest…
….even if only for a little bit…
…before getting back to the work of our lives.
And if we have lived long enough…
…then along with lunch also comes gratitude…
…because we know food will not always be so easily acquired.
BUT WHAT IF…
…you are four years old.
The children were seated for lunch and waiting for Jonah…
…and he was was slowly making his way to the table.
As a rule, we will only pray over lunch when all the family is present…
…and today…
…Jonah was not moving very quickly.
Aware of his importance he seemed to move even slower;
…but when he finally got there, seated and ready…
..what came out of his mouth sounded nothing like the opening of a thankful heart.
“I want another sandwich.”
Yup, that was it.
Without taking a bite.
Without being thankful.
Without thinking anything was wrong or peculiar with his statement at all…
…He just wanted more…
…or something else.
Does that sound familiar?
Do you ever look at what God has given you and say, “I want another sandwich”?
HERE IS A TIP FOR YOU
Real joy comes from wanting what you already have.
Real pleasure in life, the kind that allows you to fall asleep with a smile on your lips…
…happens when you look around…
…and thank God that such blessings have come your way.
SO TRY THIS
Sit down to lunch…
…and say to yourself (and to others if you are feeling so inclined),
“Hey, I really want this sandwich.”
Find joy my friends, in Christ, patrick
